28/07/1966 N367EJ Executive Jet Aviation Departed Cleveland Burke Lake Front Airport (KBKL), OH, for Portland, ME. Shortly after rotation, the aircraft encountered a large flock of sea gulls. Gull ingestion in both engines resulted in double flameout. Due to unsuitable landing terrain on take off heading, the aircraft was ditched to the left of the runway in Lake Erie. The aircraft was damaged beyond repair. None of the three crew members, the only occupants, sustained injury (from NTSB report). TT : 1,595 hours.

The EJA Falcon had been declared a total insurance loss, when John Brandis of Brandis Aircraft initiated the idea of a rebuilt. He was also the project engineer, chief mechanic and negociator with the FAA and orther concerned parties. It took him and his crew almost three years to replace damaged parts and sections, and to supply the FAA with supporting evidence for recertification (Falcon Mystere 20 Production History, Brian Gates, Midland Counties Publications). It seems that Avions Marcel Dassault has advised potential customers that the aircraft was not airworthy.
